Foxboro Hot Tubs, "Stop Drop and Roll!!!": While the world eagerly awaits the follow-up to 2004's "American Idiot" -- one of the decade's essential recordings -- Green Day sneaked out this playful collection of '50s-style garage rockers, under the pseudonym Foxboro Hot Tubs.

Will you take a minute to read this message from Robert Redford and then act? President Bush is only going to be in office for another month or so, but he can do a lot of damage between now and January 20th. Join me in taking action now to help save our Redrock wilderness.
Rock on,
Billie Joe

COLDPLAY - MARTIN: 'THE BEST BANDS ARE ON HOLIDAY' @ Contact Music: here.
Humble COLDPLAY star CHRIS MARTIN insists his band is the best on the world because U2 and GREEN DAY are on vacation.
The British singer/songwriter admits his group will slip down the list of great bands once U2 and Green Day return with new albums in 2009.
Martin says, "The reason we're the biggest band in the world at the moment is because the others are on holiday. That's how you get your breaks. That's how the understudy gets his opportunity. "While U2 and Green Day are away, we've gotten to make the most of it."

Bono by Billie Joe @ Rolling Stone: here.

I would describe Bono's singing as 50 percent Guinness, 10 percent cigarettes — and the rest is religion. He's a physical singer, like the leader of a gospel choir, and he gets lost in the melodic moment. He goes to a place outside himself, especially in front of an audience, when he hits those high notes. That's where his real power comes from — the pure, unadulterated Bono. He talks about things he believes in, whether it's world economics or AIDS relief in Africa. But the voice always comes first. That's where his conviction lies. [ Full article by Billie Joe ]

Obama Thanks Traveling Press for “A Good Long Ride” @ Columbia Journalism Review: here
As a long, intensive, work-filled school year comes to a close—as graduation nears, as vacation approaches—the weather isn’t the only thing that tends to warm. Nostalgia takes over. Hatchets are buried. Green Day’s “Time of Your Life” takes on special meaning. And you find yourself, not knowing what’s possessed you, scrawling “Don’t ever change!” in the yearbook of Ricky, that guy from homeroom who sat in the back and kept to himself and who you might have exchanged three words with over the course of your shared educational experience..
